Nord Pool's Chief Information Officer, Christian Ringstad, is a highly experienced and professional project management and IT governance expert. In January 2022, he assumed the CIO position at Nord Pool, having previously served as Compliance Manager and IT Manager at Oslo Børs.
With over 25 years of experience in IT, regulation and market surveillance in financial markets, Christian is responsible for managing and implementing the information and computer technology systems which Nord Pool requires in a competitive and fast-changing marketplace.
“My department develops and maintains our core systems, the Nord Pool trading platforms with surrounding systems, as well as the infrastructure needed to operate those systems,” Christian explains.
He is driven by delivering markets that work for wider society and ensuring that his team is agile and flexible enough to meet future demands from customers, regulators and the public.
Christian's strategic planning, leadership and management skills make him a solution-oriented, pragmatic and creative problem solver. He highly values working with well-functioning teams and is committed to keeping Nord Pool at the forefront of developing power markets.
“I enjoy being a part of something important. Nord Pool is a key part of the power value chain, ensuring efficient utilization of Europe’s electricity resources. The pressure which that puts on the Nord Pool organization to have well-functioning and robust solutions is enormous,” he says.
Christian holds a MSc from NTNU in Technical Cybernetics.
